Our club
The Sets in Step square dance club was founded in May of 1958, and we have been dancing almost continually since then, with the exception of a brief pandemic-related hiatus we had to take in 2020. We dance on the first and third Fridays of every month at the Knights of Columbus, in Montrose, California. Check our Schedule page for more details.
We host a weekly class for new dancers based on the Social Square Dance (SSD) format. SSD is a square dance program designed to get you square dancing in a short period of time. In years past, square dance clubs in our area taught new dancers over 100 calls before they could participate in a dance, and the classes ran for 9 months. With SSD, new dancers can start participating in all the fun of a real dance in just 13 weeks.
Our regular club dances will also mostly be in SSD so that new people feel comfortable dancing with us. We will have some interspersed Mainstream and Plus tips just to spice things up a bit. We have a Singles Rotation board, so no partner is necessary!
Already a square dancer? Interested in joining our club? See the application for membership for more information.

Always remember that while good dancing ability is nice to have, the greatest contributions each of us can make towards the enjoyment of a dance are friendliness, good humor, patience, cooperation and a genuine desire to have fun!
