BENEFITS OF MEMBERSHIP
- Sets is a long-time established Club. Members have passed a minimum of either a Mainstream/Plus class or a Social Square Dance (SSD) class. At our dances, we alternate SSD and Plus tips, so that both new and experienced dances have a chance to dance.
- We're easy to get to. We dance in Montrose at the Knights of Columbus Hall located at 2657 Honolulu St. between La Crescenta Ave. and Ocean View Ave.
- The KOC hall has a wonderful wood floor, an HVAC system, and parking behind the hall. It has a separate lounge if you just want to sit and visit with friends near the dance floor.
- Badges will be provided by the club. Badges must be worn at all club dances and visitations.
- Monthly dues are $15 per member. These are club dues that cover our expenses (paying the callers, hall rentals, supplies, and other costs of running the club). Note that for members, the entrance fee to Sets in Step first and third Friday dances is covered by the dues. In other words, for dues-paying members, our regular club dances are free.
- The club pays the members' annual fee for California Council of Square Dancers' insurance coverage.
- Sets In Step has regular club activities, which are planned to be fun for everyone, and we encourage our members to participate in as many as possible.
- Members are asked to serve in rotation on the refreshment committee for the second dances of each month (these are our third Friday "party" dances, where we have more food and usually also decorations). There are generally two to three members on the refreshment committee each time. If you are unable to serve on an assigned date, it is up to you to contact the committee chairman and arrange to trade with someone else. Members are also encouraged to serve as "angels" at our new dancer classes.
- A newsletter which includes a calendar of activities is published monthly and distributed to all members; you may opt for paper or e-mail distribution.
- A convenient booklet is distributed on an annual basis, listing all the members, dances, our Club By-Laws, and other important information that club members may need.
